AIDA Cruises

AIDA is a cruise line company that caters to the German market, offering tours around the globe via their fourteen cruise ships. I’ve had the opportunity to provide marketing imagery for two of those ships, AIDAsol and AIDAmar. The client has very high standards for perfection when it comes to executing their vision, which is good for me because I try to hold myself to similar standards.

These 3D renders of the Sphinx class cruise ship “AIDAsol” were a substantial technical undertaking. Raw geometric data was provided by the client. My task was to clean and organize the data, then produce aesthetically pleasing illustrations for catalogs. A great deal of optimization was required for such dense models to be rendered, particularly since much of the ship’s interior was also included in the original data. Overall I found the challenge quite enjoyable, particularly when it came to optimizing the data to meet computer hardware constraints.

AIDA offers a wide range of Point-of-Sale materials to travel agencies around the country. My responsibility was to produce clean, simple 3D turntable animations to demonstrate the materials and how they should be displayed in storefronts, as well as assembly diagrams for more complicated displays.
